Visit the ER or Call 911

 

If your injury or illness is life-threatening, you SHOULD go to the ER. Here are a few examples:

  • Chest pain or irregular heartbeat

  • Signs of stroke: loss of vision, sudden numbness, weakness, slurred speech or confusion

  • Convulsions, seizures or loss of consciousness

  • Severe abdominal pain

  • Severe shortness of breath

  • Pregnancy-related problems

  • Poisoning or overdose

  • Head, neck or back trauma/injury

  • You fell from a height greater than 7 feet

  • Heavy, uncontrolled bleeding

  • Electrical shock

  • Severe burn

  • Any life-or limb-threatening event

  • Choking

  • Severe allergic reaction

  • Dislocated joints
